In-Home
Newborn Sessions

To capture the magic where it's made each day

In-home newborn photography sessions are perfect for families who want to document a little snippet of those early days with a new baby at home. Think of it like a romanticized version of all the sweet little details you'll want to remember, without the stress of traveling out of the house with a newborn.

Natural Baltimore newborn photography for relaxed Maryland families.

Honest connections with the whole family

Natural newborn posing

Sessions take place within the first 6 weeks, with 1-2 weeks being ideal if you love sleepy photos. They include the whole immediate family, including pets. When siblings are involved, there's a focus on them as well. ;)

These sessions are all about the details of your newborn and the authentic connections. You can expect solo images of baby, but also plenty snuggled up in arms, the way you'll want to remember these fleeting days.

Kind Words

I would highly recommend Kim to anyone looking for laid back, no stress, GORGEOUS! lifestyle newborn photos.

— Ally, Baltimore Maryland

Kim went above & beyond to make us feel comfortable and natural. My husband (who is not a picture person) was amazed by how easy going and relaxed the shoot was!

— Laura D, Essex Maryland

She embraced the multiple dogs in our house and really went with the flow. I love that she incorporated the shots and personal items that we love, but also brought her expertise to suggest things that photograph best.

— Leila, Bethesda Maryland

Why in home? Because where else will all of those beautiful memories be made with your new baby and family?

You do not need a perfectly decorated home.  My job is to find the light and love, and I'd like to think I'm pretty darn good at it. ;) If you have a window or two (which you do!), we will be just fine.

It's all about the connections with your new baby and being able to relax in a familiar space so we can make photographic memories in the place you brought your baby home to.

All of my sessions as a Baltimore Newborn photographer take place in the homes of everyday families around the Greater Baltimore area and throughout Maryland and DC.

Why yes, yes it is.

FAQ's

I book your due date as a floating space on my calendar and we set the firm date once you deliver. Please note that Newborn sessions are always booked on weekdays around 9:30/10am

How do I book when I don't know my due date?

Nope! :) I LOVE in-home newborn photography. I have owned and operated 6 different studios in my 16+ year career throughout the Baltimore area, but in 2018 I fell in love with in-home newborn and family photography. I intentionally let go of working out of studios. I'm not sure if I will ever go back, but who knows what the future holds.  There's something so special about photographing families in their homes and it's definitely easier for newborns.

Do you have a Newborn photography studio?

If you like the naturally sleepy curly images you see in my portfolio, the best time to book is before baby arrives so I can guarantee a spot in my calendar. With that being said, I try to hold space for last minute bookings and photograph newborns beautifully at any age.

When should I book my Newborn Session?

I know you're insanely excited to see what we captured together, and I can't wait for you to see them too! I have a fairly fast turn around, so you can expect to see your images within 10 short days of your session. You'll be able to download them immediately when the gallery debuts. Order prints from your gallery, or print anywhere you like - my fav is MPIX.com

When will I receive my newborn photos?

I use props very minimally, outside of soft wraps and blankets to pose baby on for solo shots. When I arrive, I will have my cameras, and  a bag with fabrics and blankets.  I will also have a beanbag for posing and supplemental lighting in case we need it. I do this with purpose as I want to make sure we spend time capturing real connections and expressions. Using very little distractions from your perfect little baby.

DO you use props in your newborn sessions?

I don't watch a clock because we move on baby's time, but you can expect a natural flow of 1-2.5 hours. We take as many breaks for changes and feeding as needed and you'll see, there's a natural end. Never rushed and always relaxed.

How long are newborn sessions?

I have photographed families in all types of homes. From a single room in a tiny apartment, to sprawling mansions that were immaculately decorated. I can tell you it 100%  does NOT matter.  What matters is the light and love, and I guarantee you have both.

We can use as much or as little of your home as you'd like. If you have great decor, awesome, we can include tiny bits. Nothing at all on the walls because you just moved in? Great! We have lots of white backgrounds and simplicity!

Truth be told, we spend a lot of time near windows and I will guide you before the session as what to expect. No need to fully clean or prep, it's a lot easier than you think.

I live in a small Baltimore City home - What if it's  too small,  not decorated? Or too Dark?
